Here we are at yet another Project Life post - #6 for 2013. I'm so excited to be keeping right up to date with my goals for this year. We were even away for this 3 day weekend and although I didn't post early as I had hoped, I am still meeting my end all deadline of Monday night.
Week 6 was the most ordinary week I've had so far so no inserts! I did a lot of word stickers and I'm back to writing directly on my photos after using the computer to journal on my photos last week.
I was inspired by Design Editor's Project Life layout here where she included a 6x12 photo across the bottom of her spread. When I got my photos printed I ordered a couple of them in the 8x12 size with the plans of trimming them down and including one or two in my spread across the bottom, however, as the week got away from me I ended up completing my spread without including one and was ready to save the enlargements for something else when I remembered my intentions for 2013:
Thrive! Experiment! Be Grateful! & decided I needed to EXPERIMENT with this new layout idea and rearrange some of my photos and work in my enlargement.
So for the first week my photos are not chronological at all! And that is OK because I had fun and this arrangement flows much better than my original layout.
And I'm proud of myself for experimenting!

Thanks! Yes, I do get bored easily too. I think changing things up every so often will help with that. Good point!

Hi Margie,
Thanks for your comments on my blog! I may not always comment, but your blog is one I make time to read every week!
To answer your questions, my friend bought a waterproof disposable camera and we used that during The Color Run, it was pretty handy as if we got any of the paint dust, we just washed it off with our water bottles. We get the films back on Friday, so hopefully they turned out decent! The organisers actually recommend putting your camera/phone in a clear zip lock sandwich bag to protect it from the dust.
I'm assuming all the powdered paint used throughout the race was made of the same stuff, because I know that the little packet you get at the end for crossing the finish line is made of corn starch.
xx

Love your spread. Your photos look really good, especially that enlargment. I also love the different silver elements throughout.
I followed you on pinterest! Here are my boards:

I am very very careful about my free printable board. I hate it when people repin broken links or links to paid printables ... anyway, I think you 'll like it!

I have taken my dSLR to play HOLI many times with no damage. Not sure if it is the same powder at a color run, but those pictures are some of the most amazing I've ever taken.

I love all of the great pictures you've added. I also really like your alphas. :)

I really love how you do PL. So inspiring. I'm totally new to this - my first year, but I'm already have a lot of fun doing it. :) And I can't wait to sit and work on my PL - just love it.
I found your blog via Mom Creative and I'm planning to follow your PL posts. :)
I love the idea of the enlarged photo - that's something I have to try to do one day.
Thank you very much for the inspiration.

Keep up with the experimentation! The great thing about PL is that it's a flexible system--some days are simple while other days are more creative. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love how you are keeping up with the everyday documentation! Thanks for sharing!

I love the look of the 4x12 photo - I've done 4x6 photos split across two journaling card pockets but never thought to do an untraditional size photo like that. Love it!! I've been trying some new things like including more screenshots than just photos in my PL. I struggle taking photos during the week in the wintertime because of the low light - it's just hard for me to get inspired. As a result, my spreads seem to only document the weekends. So it's worked as a good way to include some more pieces of our everyday life. I have a pinterest page too - http://pinterest.com/heatherv/scrapping-with-pocket-pages/ Thanks for the inspiration!!

Hi Margie! I think the words on your photos look great. I especially love "The Next Day." Heather Johnson posted some tips on her blog and one was taking photos that are intentionally composed in such a way that there will be space to journal on them. I had never thought of that before, even though I'm always sad I can't do the cool journaling-on-photos thing because it looks too busy. But you have it mastered! I am inspired by your experimentation with the 6x12. I love the look of photos stretched across pockets and even play with recreating the look digitally sometimes even though that's a bit silly. My issue is that I always have too many photos, those pockets are at a serious premium! But that's why you inspired me - thanks for posting about your process, and that you deliberately redid your layout and gave up some photo space to try something new.

Great! Glad to have a new Pinterest friend.

Screen shots are a great idea. I often take them and don't make the effort to print them out and include them. What are your favorite things to take screen shots of?

Thanks! You are totally right about it being flexible. It doesn't have to be complicated if I don't want it to be. Good reminder.

Thanks for the tips on the camera. I will definitely look into a disposable water proof camera - that sounds like a great idea. I can't wait to experience our first color run. I'm very excited. And thanks for stopping by. :)

Yes, that highly coveted photo real estate! I completely understand the conundrum. And funny you mention my word usage on photos - this week I was pretending to channel some well known scrapbookers styles who do that all the time. I must have channeled them successfully! Thanks for the encouragement. I may just try it again soon. Great tip on taking photos with the intention of leaving white space - I hadnt really thought of that either. I sometimes use stickers/letters and other things to cover up eye-sores (like the COACH covers up some guys bottom (shhh!) that was a little too close to my husbands head for comfort - the letter stickers were a good distraction).

I'm happy you went back & included the enlargement because it looks amazing! I've been wanting to do that in my layouts, but I haven't taken a photo yet that I thought was worth it. My layouts typically aren't chronological across the page either, I try to do them left to right as much as possible, but really I just end up with whatever looks best. I like seeing how you used the clementine cards also, because I have the same kit & am always looking for new ways to decorate them!! Thanks for the inspiration :)

Thanks! I think youd be surprised how good a photo will look enlarged. You should chose a favorite and give it a try - just for fun. I bet it will look better than you think.

Writing on your photos is such a cool idea! I'm digi scrapping for 2013 but I could still put more text on my photos. Thanks for the inspiration! Love that you decided to use the panoramic photo - it looks fabulous!

Thanks, Kimberly. I do love the look of text on photos - digi or with letter stickers. Last week I added text to my photos before printing them since I had never done it before.
