Our youngest son attended his Kindergarten year (by American scheduling) at a bilingual/bicultural school in the center of China's capital city. We loved the school. The administration did a fantastic job, the teachers were caring and amazing and the school offered a caring, stimulating environment that fully embraced (in a very positive way) all cultures in a very positive way. This being no easy feat in the Capital city!! We speak from a little too much experience at how many interational schools (local as well as foreign run) fail miserably in all three of these areas.
The one major weakness of the school was the inadequate outdoor space and free play areas available for the children. They did have a nice playground downstairs in the front of the school & many school pets (sheep, bunnies, squirrel, duck, etc), but this area was our son's class' dedicated space. Being a Montessori school, each class is meant to have its own outdoor space available to the kids so they did have that but as you can see it was sorely lacking. As we learned during our time in Beijing, every choice has its benefits and its sacrifices. Luckily, choosing this school for a year was worth this sacrifice.
