Braden surprised himself last Sunday by reading his very first chapter book all by himself. I loved when he told me he was finished with chapter 2. I could tell by the way he said it that he hadn't believed he would be able to do it until he actually did it.
So exciting to witness an emerging reader. He makes such an effort and is reading every word that he sees. He is also constantly asking me how to spell words.
Discovering the power of words and written communication is such an exciting time!
Such a great shot, and please tell Braden that I am proud of him, and think he is entering into a new world of MAGIC. How great are those chapter books.

So exciting for him and a great memory to capture. As a teacher-librarian, it made my heart sing to read this post!

Today I was with my cousin's son. He is now two and I really enjoyed watching him draw and I realized how proud of himself he was after finishing a drawing.
Kind of the same situation you are talking about but in different times of life.
Way to go Braden.
Visiting from The Simple Things.
