The other day our family decided to reinact a photo we took during the summer of 2008 right after we had moved to Beijing. It was right in the middle of Olympic fever and the Croc store was running a special on Red & Yellow Crocs designed in China's national colors in honor of the Olympics. Crocs were all the rage but we refused to buy our kids Crocs for the retail price. When we saw these at only 100 kuai ($14USD at the time) and designed for the Olympics, we decided to treat the boys. Paul got him self a pair as well, so of course a photo was in order.
THEN
When looking for my photo from 2008, I found it interesting that most of my photos were of just their feet. All kinds of different angles and perspectives. There was only one photo of the four of them in this positioning and this is the favorite. We did try one other pose but only took two of those, one of which was over exposed. And it is this one photo that is our favorite and is hung in two different places in our home! Funny how that works.
NOW
There are a lot more legs in this photo, don't you think?
Here is another perspective I took on both days as well:
THEN
NOW
Noticibly absent are the red Crocs. Everyone has grown out of theirs except Dad! Nicholas' pair were destroyed a few weeks after the original photo was taken. They got caught in a escalator in a subway station. A bit of it is still stuck in that escalator and we look for it every time we are at that subway station. It is now completely black though.
I did a scrapbook layout telling the story:
Wow I have truly met an urban legend. I knew that escalators ate Crocs, but I've never met someone to whom it has actually happened!!! I am honored. Tell Nicholas that he's rad. Or whatever adjective is in vogue these days.

I love the feet photos! What a great way to document how much they grow! :)
