The simple thing that made me smile this week is the SELF-TIMER on my camera. All of these photos were taken on Saturday with the SELF-TIMER.
We were cooking together in the kitchen and I wanted to catch us interacting together. I love what I captured.
My camera allows me to take as many photos in a row as I want (I'm sure there is a limit - I don't know what it is). I set it to take 10 in a row. It can't do that many in a row without pausing to catch up. The first 4 or 5 take immediately and the rest are taken randomly as the camera 'catches up.'
I love how it did that. Then it caught us naturally. The first 4 or 5 photos were typically awash, but the rest were great. The biggest trick was getting it to focus in the right spot. Sometimes I was lucky, sometimes it was off, but the expressions overshadowed that lack of technical perfection.
We spent so much time in the kitchen on Saturday. First making homemade lasagne.
Then sugar cookies. I agreed to make sugar cookies if the kids helped me since I don't like making sugar cookies if I can help it.
It was the kids idea to spell out Easter inside the eggs.
What a great idea.

These photos are wonderful. Very natural. It's great that you captured the interaction of your family....and the cookies look yummy!

This is such a fun idea. I know I have this function on my camera, but I haven't tried it yet. Now I know what I will be playing around with this week :)

How cool that you can take 10 photos with the self-timer. What kind of camera is it? I love the photos with you in them!!!! xoxo

Hi Julie! Thanks. I have a Canon XSi (450 in non-US markets). It is now around 3 years old. It is the entry level DSLR. It is definitely fun and I plan to do this on a fairly regular basis if I remember.

I like the idea of random timer shots, I may have to experiment! :)
