We went to a temple fair on Sunday after church. It is an ancient tradition still celebrated in Beijing after a respite during the 60s, 70s & perhaps the 80s. Braden wore his Spring Festival attire traditional for children to wear during this holiday. He was so proud and excited to wear it. He especially loved the plastic jewel on the hat. At the fair a man was sculpting people out of clay. We thought for $10USD it would be worth having a replica of Braden for the day in his special outfit since he was so proud. He sat there patiently while the man went to work and the crowd gathered to watch the adorable laowairen get his sculpture made.

The kids talked us into buying them some fireworks to light off for ourselves. We waited until this day as it is the 5th day of the Lunar New Year which has special significance to the Chinese. We were the first of many of our neighbors to let off our stash of fireworks.
Monday - Photo #2
Braden lots his very first tooth this evening. It was hanging on by a thread so Dad pulled it out for him. I was out with some friends for a farewell party so the boys videotaped everything for me and Nicholas did a great job taking this photo. Fantastic composition, Nicholas!

I'm really enjoying the view out our living room window. Over the summer we moved apartments and we are now five floors higher than before. And what a different it makes! I really enjoy the city view. It brings you above and away from the grime and dinge of the city streets below. And of course the light is even brighter. I especially love that we can see Beijing tallest building, Guo Mao (China World).
Reece and I took this photo in our hallway mirror just before we left to get a 90 minute foot massage. They only cost $15 USD! Reece & Nicholas take turns going with me since Dad doesn't like to go and it is great one on one time with mom. Before the TV changed, they loved it because I let them watch Discovery channel when we were there.

Clayton & Tau came over to play and brought Max, their dog. Reece wants a pet of his own very badly and loves carrying Max around like a baby. Poor Max! They dressed him in Braden's build-a-bear's football uniform!
Friday, February 10
Persi came over with her mom on Friday morning. Sara, Abby and I were having one last photo review session before Sara & family were off to Australia before moving to Washington, DC for a few years. We will miss them dearly!
Saturday, February 12
Dad had to work on Saturday so the boys and I walked to the new Burger King that opened a few weeks ago. The temperatures dropped back to normal winter temps and Reece was a kind big brother and helped Braden zip up to keep warm.
Love all your pics, especially the last one. Thanks for sharing. I've been adding mine to my blog too and using it kind of like a diary so when i come to writing it up, it's all on my blog.

Hi Deb, very good point. I am sure I will be referring back to my blog posts for journaling. Last year I had the actual album in hand, this year, not yet. I'm still trying to decide exactly how I am going to do it. And I can't get anything in hand until summer when I am home for a couple of months.
