My little four-year-old boy turning five-years-old tomorrow (Saturday) chose ladybugs as the theme for his birthday this year! I think that is just adorable. It didn't matter that his older brother told him ladybugs are for girls. Not in a teasing way, mind you, for informational purposes only. The birthday boy was set on a ladybug cake and cupcakes. I love that kind of certainty.
Though I should mention this is the same brother that wanted a pink monster cake for his third birthday and who chose a pink crown to wear at preschool. Well, that was until a girl in the crowd announced that pink was for girls at which he promptly changed his choice to gold.
Said brother wasn't able to claim pink as a color he liked again until this year at age nine. He claims he likes all colors and that all colors are for everyone. That's what you get for raising kids (at least for a few years) in California - so politically correct!!
I do love that my kids are showing some signs of being comfortable with who they are. And it is fine by me that my boys like pink and ladybugs. With three sons, when else am I going to get to make anything girlie.
Anyway, I digress. On to the cake:
And finally, for purely self indulgent purposes, a few more angles of both.
And finally, another angle of one of the cupcakes.
Stay tuned for another scrapbook page in the works and birthday photos!
Thanks for stopping by!
they are superb. Love that kids know what they want and it is often unexpected. Wonder if I can have ladybugs for my 48th birthday?
